Born on May 4, 1949 in a small town in Georgia (Cordele), Sam began to use the talents that God gave him at the unbelievable age of three. His talents were so amazing he was chosen to be the lead singer by the age of seven in the Church choir. Singing was in his soul.
Attending the A.S. Clark High School, Sam won the prestigious title of “Most Talented Lead Male Vocalist” every year from 1965-1968. During that time the High School Chorus won the Georgia State Chorus Championship every year. At this point in his life he had to make a decision of what he wanted to do. That had to be one of the easiest decisions he ever made.
Sam began his professional life as a singer touring the South and the New England states singing Gospel Music from 1968-1974. Things took a turn for the best when Sam began singing in Night Clubs in the Tampa Bay area. His popularity created “Standing Room Only” events at well known establishments like the Don Caesar Hotel and Holiday Inn in St. Petersburg Beach, Spoto in Madeira Beach and Sheraton Sand Key in Clearwater Beach, just to name a few. He was enjoying himself. He was blessed.
In 1985, Sam relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his longtime dream of signing a recording contract with a major label. He immediately began singing at Marla Gibbs (Star of sitcoms The Jeffersons and 227) Supper Club. So impressed by what she saw she called Sam “The Total Package,” punctuality, stage presence, attitude, usage of the audience, and most of all great singing, she nicknamed him “MR. ENTERTAINMENT.”
This opportunity led to many engagements in great locations in Las Vegas, Anaheim and Hollywood, including the Sunset Strip. Sam also performed in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Philippines, Japan and Thailand. Success for him was measured in the smiles and applause received while performing. In 1996 he performed in the Chicagoland area and it was love at first sight. Since moving here, he has performed steadily at The Point in Bloomingdale, Club Elite Franklin Park, Borgatta’s Fox Lake, Port Barrington’s Fox River Groves, Milwaukee County, Standard Club Chicago, Burbank Rose in Burbank IL, and many, many more.
Sam has but one rule: “Give 110%, if the crowd is few as two, or as many as two thousand, for you are only as good as your last performance.”
In October 1998 Sam signed a two year contract with his new management company “ARTIST MARKET” which includes the production of a new CD released in 1999.
